What up!
As Warren Buffett once said:
"It can take you 20 years to build your reputation. But it takes you 5 minutes to destroy it."
And this massive YouTuber recently learned that the hard way.
Airrack is a YouTube star with nearly 15 million subscribers and a raving community of fans.
I honestly liked the guy and he’s got some super entertaining videos (just look up his channel on YouTube and you’ll see what I mean).
But truth is, I like him a bit less now after another YouTuber completely exposed the guy.
Let me break it down for you:
Airrack claims none of his videos are fake and he’s got the best interests of people at heart.
But last month, he was exposed for not only faking many of his videos, but also doxxing several people (nearly getting them fired in the process) and faking donations to a small town in one of his videos.
Yeah… kinda messed up.
Now, I didn’t realize all this until I watched one of his videos a few weeks ago and went through the comment section.
And people were absolutely ripping the guy apart. Which led me down the rabbit hole of searching everywhere for “What happened to Airrack?”
Want to know the truth?
Nothing much will likely come of it and people will soon forget anything ever happened.
But if you’re building any sort of brand, you better not forget what Airrack did. Instead, let it be a lesson for you...
It can take you years to build your reputation and an instant to destroy it.
People want to connect with other genuine and authentic people (notice the emphasis on those two).
They don’t want to be lied to. They don’t want to feel like you don’t care about them. And they certainly don’t want to trust someone who turns out to be a liar and a fake.
Remember, trust is everything when it comes to building a brand.
Authenticity builds trust. And trust builds businesses.
So please please pleaseeee don’t be Airrack lol.
Be honest with your audience. Open up. Build trust. Show your wins and your losses.
And whatever you do... do not lie to them. Because sooner or later they'll find out.
Anyways, if you’re a coach or agency owner looking to gain more trust, turn trust into $$$, and scale your biz in a genuine and authentic way?
Click here to learn how you can do exactly that (Airrack wouldn’t click here, but I’d recommend you do).
Cheers,
Connor
