What up!
I’ve been going to the gym almost every morning with my roommate since the start of the year.
But he’s been hurt for the past few weeks. So instead of hitting the weights at 6 AM, I’ve been sleeping in and going to the gym in the afternoons instead (24/7 hustle bros will call me lame for not going in the morning but I don’t care lol).
Annnyyyywayyyys… I’ve seen this one guy at the gym multiple times now.
Now, there are a lot of regulars I see whenever I go. But this guy in particular stands out.
Why?
Well, because he’s got a prosthetic leg and is only able to walk around with his two forearm crutches.
And yeah, that’s impressive on its own.
But what’s even more impressive is that this guy is jacked af.
Massive arms, pecs of steel, and one of the strongest guys I’ve ever seen at the gym.
And day in and day out, whenever I hit the weights at 4 or 5 PM after a long day of work…. I see this guy with his gym partner, absolutely crushing it at his upper body routine.
It’s inspiring as hell to see.
Now, this got me thinking:
99% of people in his position would make up excuses as to why they couldn’t do what he’s doing.
“I can’t workout. I only have one leg.”
“I’m going to skip today, it’s just too hard.”
“I just want to sit home and cry about my situation. Why me God? WHY?!”
And honestly, if I was in this guy’s situation I would probably think a lot of these same things every day. Because it is hard. I can only imagine what this guy goes through on a daily basis.
But truth is… life is hard.
You don’t get to choose the cards you’ve been dealt. You only get to decide what you do with them.
Which means you’ve got two choices every day you wake up:
- Sit there and cry about your situation and the cards you’ve been dealt
- Say “f@$! it” and make the absolute best of your situation
I don’t see the disabled gym bro complain about only having one leg. He’s crushing it, taking his health seriously, making no excuses, and showing up every. single. day.
That’s the mentality you gotta have if you want to make it in this world.
If you want to overcome your biggest obstacles and live your best life.
And that's the same mentality I try to have when I wake up every single morning, ready to conquer the seemingly impossible mountains that stand in my way every day.
Anyways, sorry if this one offended you in any way. If it did, you can unsubscribe.
I just want to see you live your best life and crush your goals.
And sometimes we just need a bit of tough love and inspiration to make a change :)
Talk later,
Connor
